Sorrento was the site of the first settlement in Victoria and traces its history back to 1803. For over 50 years, Sorrento has been a popular tourist destination with steamships like the Wahroonga and Edina making regular voyages from Melbourne, whilst still retaining much of its old world charm, it has blossomed into a very select tourist destination.
Sorrento is at the centre of many local attractions, and there are a variety of beaches to choose from - varying from calm, shallow beaches or rock pools perfect for small children, to well known surfing beaches.
Melbourne is the closest airport for international and major domestic airlines. Small aircraft can land at Tyabb and helicopters can land in Sorrento. Melbourne is 75km away - a little over an hour's scenic, leisurely drive.
